AMERICAN KANG DUK WON KARATE

A Day at the Jr. Karate Camp - June 9, 2007

The students check-in with Black Belt Instructors and are helped to their respective locations by Brown Belt students.
Getting ready for the opening bow-in for the Jr. Camp.
After the bow-in the students are divided into smaller groups to rotate around through the various classes.

This class is the Kicking Class with Mr. Howard, instructor. The students practice how to be the most effective in their kicks.

The students practice with targets and might even compete with the instructor, Mr. Howard.
Master Carpenter talks with the students in the S.A.F.E. (Self Awareness For Everyone) Class.
The students participate in several scenarios which help them understand how seemingly safe actions by others can become risky and dangerous to them.
A Basic Forms class with Mr. Hopping, Instructor.
Lunch Break in the Black Belt Men's building. Many of the boys are relaxing on the bunks where they will spend the night. Some of the adult Black Belt men are also having lunch here with the student boys.
Master Hintopoulos describes the Wing Tsun apparatus, ...
... and gives instruction how to use the apparatus.
Master Hintopoulos watches as the students practice some Wing Tsun techniques with a partner of approximately their own size.
Did the students really understand how to execute the technique? The get to practice the technique with Master Hintopoulos as the target.
The students work on perfecting, or learning for the first time, the techniques of Ippon Kumites and Quad Training with Mr. Sixberry, Instructor.
One of the most remembered activities of any Karate Camp is running the Combat Course Trail. But, or course, we can't show pictures as that would take the fun and surprise away for the next students.
Combat Course
After an exciting afternoon, the students sit down for a well-deserved supper.

The end of the pictures, but not of the activites for the campers. Evening events included Kata practice, agility training, and the ever popular Assault on Napunde Castle. After a good night's sleep, Sunday events include climbing, a ropes course, and the PRT (Physical Readiness Training) course.
